Vancouver Conservatives Lead by 10 Points in New Mainstreet Poll, While ABC and Liberals Falter

Vancouver, BC: A new poll from Mainstreet Research reveals a seismic shift in Vancouver’s municipal political landscape, with the Vancouver Conservatives surging into first place with a commanding 10-point lead over their closest rivals. The survey, conducted among 1,207 Vancouver adults from October 17 to 22, 2025, shows the Vancouver Conservatives at 32% support among all voters, far ahead of the Vancouver Liberals at 22%, COPE at 13%, and the Vancouver Greens at 11%. Incumbent Mayor Ken Sim’s ABC party trails significantly at just 8%, underscoring a clear rejection of the status quo.

“This poll, which shows a 10 point lead for the Vancouver Conservatives, is a resounding message from voters: they want change, and our hopeful, common sense conservative vision is resonating across the city,” said David Denhoff, President of the Conservative Electors Association. “Vancouver is ready for a common sense conservative Mayor and council that prioritizes lower taxes and safer streets. The surge in our support reflects a growing consensus that it’s time to restore affordability, safety, and prosperity to our great city.”

The poll tested multiple possible mayoral candidates, highlighting the strength of conservative options. In a scenario with John Coupar as the Conservative contender, he secured first place among all candidates with 25% support, leading Orr at 20%, Fry at 20%, Allam at 13%, and Sim at 13%. Coupar also holds the most support with younger voters, at 30.5%. John’s polling numbers are up 6 points since the prior Mainstreet.

In a scenario featuring Kirk LaPointe as the Conservative candidate, he leads with 26% support, ahead of COPE’s Orr at 17%, the Greens’ Fry at 20%, the Liberals’ Kareem Allam at 16%, and ABC’s Ken Sim at only 11%.

“In both Kirk LaPointe and John Coupar’s cases, as conservative candidates they both hold a clear advantage, demonstrating broad party appeal across demographics including age, income, education, and ethnicity,” said Denhoff.

“Mayor Ken Sim’s faltering numbers indicate no viable path to re-election, with ABC support languishing in single digits amid widespread dissatisfaction with Ken Sim’s poor performance as Mayor.”

The Mainstreet poll, with a margin of error of +/- 2.8% at the 95% confidence level, captures a 1,207 person respondent sample size of Vancouver’s voting population.
