Surrey Conservatives Lead by 14 Points in New Mainstreet Poll, While Mayor Brenda Locke’s Surrey Connect Party Stumbles
Surrey, BC: A new poll from Mainstreet Research is shaking up municipal politics in Surrey, with the Surrey Conservatives surging into a commanding 14-point lead in the mayoral election race.
According to the Mainstreet poll conducted from October 17 to 22, the Surrey Conservatives lead decisively with 25% support among decided voters. Surrey First trails at 11%, while Safe Surrey Coalition stands at 7%. Incumbent Mayor Brenda Locke’s Surrey Connect has significantly fallen behind at only 4%, tied with Surrey Forward. United Surrey has not registered measurable support, while independent candidates capture just 3%.
“These poll results show Surrey voters are eager for change. They’re tired of the crime, the extortion, the gang-related shootings, and the high taxes under Brenda Locke’s increasingly unpopular leadership,” said David Denhoff, President of the Conservative Electors Association. “Residents want common sense conservative policies, like safer streets, and lower taxes. The Surrey Conservatives offer exactly that, and our message is resonating.”
Denhoff emphasized that voters across Surrey, from Newton to Cloverdale and South Surrey to Guildford, are rallying around conservative values and clear commitments to public safety, lower taxes, and common-sense governance.
“These numbers reflect a strong appetite for change and a common sense Conservative Mayor and Council,” Denhoff said. “We will continue working hard, earning every vote by focusing on the real priorities of Surrey families and taxpayers. Conservatives will make life better for Surrey residents by making the city safer and more affordable”.
The survey of 803 adult Surrey residents was conducted by Mainstreet Research via Smart IVR technology on both landlines and mobile phones from October 17–22, 2025. The poll carries a margin of error of ±3.5%, 19 times out of 20. Results have been weighted for age, gender, and region to reflect the population according to census data.
